Situated in the Panhandle region of northwest Florida, Santa Rosa Beach is often referred to as the 'Beaches of South Walton'. It is blessed with some of the most beautiful coastlines in the state. Santa Rosa Beach is situated near the Grayton Beach State Recreation Area, a 2,000-acre state park with rolling sea oat covered dunes and white sand beaches. Get a glimpse into the past in this park, which showcases how the panhandle looked to the first European settlers. In addition, the park has rare plants and wildlife, such as the Choctawhatchee Beach Mouse. The Grayton Beach Nature Trail provides hiking opportunities, and camping and cabins are also available in the park. There are many golf courses in the Santa Rosa Beach area, several of them recognized by Golf Digest as "Best Places to Play." Also, scenic Highway 30A has a great bike trail. Unique shops, boutiques and art galleries are scattered throughout the area, and the largest outlet mall in Florida is just ten miles away. Santa Rosa Beach is one of the gems of the "Emerald Coast," but is less populated and more relaxing than the nearby beaches of Destin.
